Postpartum Care
What Does Postpartum Care Look Like?
Pregnancy and birth are incredible, but they also place significant demands on your body. From the physical changes of pregnancy to the recovery that follows birth, it's common to experience discomfort, core weakness, or simply feel different in your body than you did before. You deserve care and support during this season—not just because you're having symptoms, but because your body has worked hard. We're here to help you feel stronger, more comfortable, and more confident as you navigate pregnancy, birth, and recovery.
-
Diastasis rectus abdominis (abdominal separation) is present approximately 60% of women at 6 weeks postpartum. Your therapist will assess your abdominal muscles and curate specialized plan to rebuild strength and function of your abdominal muscles.
-
Whether you’re experiencing bowel or bladder changes, painful intimacy, pressure/heaviness, or simply not feeling like yourself “down there,” your therapist will assess the coordination, strength, and support of your pelvic floor muscles and address any scar tissue to get you back to feeling like yourself again.
-
Pregnancy places a lot stress and demand on your pelvic floor muscles, so pelvic floor therapy is still recommended after a c-section to ensure your muscles are functioning correctly. Pelvic floor therapy can also help with scar tissue mobility and rebuilding abdominal strength following a cesarean birth.
-
Hip, back, neck and shoulder pain are common postpartum due to muscle weakness and imbalance. Work with your specialist to restore your posture, relieve muscle tension, release scar tissue, and rebuild strength so you can be fully present in this new chapter of life.
-
Ready to get back to running? Your pelvic floor specialist will work with you to build back the strength and control to safely return to running and reduce your risk of future injury or pelvic floor dysfunction.
-
Intimacy concerns are common postpartum - whether that’s pain with intimacy, decreased sensation, difficulty orgasming, or feeling disconnected from your body. We’re here to get you back to pain-free, enjoyable sex so you can reconnect with your partner with confidence.
