Pelvic Organ Prolapse Treatment
Pelvic organ prolapse can feel scary, confusing, or overwhelming — but you have options. At Terra Pelvic Health, we provide personalized pelvic floor physical therapy to help you understand what’s happening, feel more confident in your body, and get back to activities that you love.
What is Pelvic Organ Prolapse?
Pelvic organ prolapse happens when one or more of the pelvic organs — bladder, uterus, or rectum — moves downward and creates a sensation of pressure or bulge in the vagina. Prolapse is common, and experiencing symptoms does not mean you have to give up the activities you love.
Signs & Symptoms of Pelvic Organ Prolapse
A feeling of pressure, heaviness, or fullness in the pelvis
A vaginal bulge or feeling like something is “falling out”
Difficulty emptying your bladder or bowel
Urinary leakage or increased urgency to pee
Discomfort with exercise, lifting, standing, or sex
Pelvic Organ Prolapse Treatment: You Have Options
You are not broken. Pelvic floor physical therapy can help you better understand your symptoms, improve pelvic floor function, and build strategies that make movement and everyday life feel more comfortable and confident.
Treatment might include pelvic floor strengthening or relaxation, breathing, pressure-management strategies, movement modifications, and education to understand your body better. You may also be a good candidate for a pessary (learn more about pessaries here).
